For my proposed work, Elysium, I have a world in mind: a group of women moving almost as one organism, weaving a liminal portal to another world through a spell of movement with repetition, breath, and sustaining and releasing tension.

The origins of this world come from Aurora Halal’s produced albums and live hardwire DJ sets, as well as the women’s section from Alexander Ekman’s Play, Akram Khan’s Giselle Act II, and the traditional Giselle Wilis.

I am interested in that feeling of being pulled somewhere before you understand what is happening, but being left with a life-changing emotional sensation you cannot quite cement into words.

The audience should feel something deep and profound even if they cannot name it.
